Going live

Before the house opens

  1. Plug the computer in. Turn off notifications, power saving and sleep, close other apps.
  2. Open the video outputs on the projectors (Video › Open) and connect the DMX interface (Lights › DMX outputs).
  3. If you use Art-Net, sACN, OSC or networked projectors, open the Bridge and connect it.
  4. Connect the crew phones (Connections › Phone).
  5. Run the pre-show check: logo menu › Pre-show check.

The pre-show check

Regia checks everything it needs and tells you what to fix, with a button that takes you straight to the right place:

  • files: all present, or which ones are missing on this computer, with Relink;
  • repeated cue numbers and actions without a target (an action meant to stop a deleted element);
  • audio interfaces: every output has its interface connected;
  • video outputs: open and full screen;
  • lights: every universe has an output and the USB interface is connected;
  • Bridge and MIDI, if the show uses them;
  • subscription: whether the show uses Regia Pro features without an active subscription;
  • space on the computer: whether the browser might delete files when the disk is full, with Allow to prevent it.

Red items must be fixed, yellow ones looked at. Check again runs everything again.

Show mode

Press Edit at the top right (it becomes Show) or Ctrl+M. The screen changes:

  • on the left, the cue list in large type, with the standby cue highlighted;
  • on the right, the cart, with bigger buttons;
  • at the top GO, standby, next, pause, stop and panic, as always.

Nothing can be edited by mistake: no dragging elements, no deleting cues. GO, buttons, keys, phones and triggers all work. On entering Show mode Regia saves a backup copy. Back to Edit (or Ctrl+M) to change something.

Tip: in a dark booth, turn down the screen brightness (the sun icon at the top): the interface dims and lights the room less.

When something goes wrong

  • A sound or video to stop now: in the Running strip at the bottom, press the square next to the element.
  • Everything to stop: Stop stops sound and video with a short fade, lights stay. Panic (Esc) fades everything; press it again and everything stops at once.
  • You pressed GO by mistake: the next cue has started. Put the right one back in standby with the arrows and, if needed, stop the fired one from the Running strip.
  • An actor skips a line: set the right cue as standby (arrows, a click in the cue list or the script) and press GO.
  • A projector switches off: when it comes back, the output window is still there. If needed, press Reopen and Full in the Video workspace.
  • An audio interface disconnects: sound moves to the computer's own audio. Reconnect it and press Refresh interfaces in the Audio workspace.

After a crash

If the browser or the computer freezes during the show, when you reopen it Regia shows a yellow band at the top: “The show stopped at cue 12 at 21:47. Resume from there?”. Resume restarts from the right point, with sound and video at the correct position, accounting for the time that has passed.

After the show

  • The Log (Notes workspace) holds everything that happened, with times: save it with Download report.
  • Notes sent from phones are in Rehearsal notes.
  • Export the show as .regia if you changed it: it's the complete copy to take away.
