The cart
The Cart holds the cues that have no fixed place in the running order: recorded applause, the doorbell, the thunder you fire when the actor slams the door, the emergency music if the stage power trips. You find it in the Cart tab on the left and, larger, in Show mode.
Creating a button
- Press + Button at the bottom of the cart: an empty cue is created and its inspector opens. Add elements as in any cue: from the timeline, with + Element, or by dragging files.
- Faster: drag files onto the + Button button. Each file becomes a ready button with its own name.
A button is a full cue: it can hold sounds, video, lights and commands together, with timing, fades and effects.
Using the buttons
- Click a button: it fires. While it runs, the button turns green and a bar shows how much is left; the small square at the bottom right stops it.
- Ctrl+click (in Edit) selects it for editing; right-click opens its inspector.
- The cue's Color colours the button: red for emergencies, blue for effects, as you like.
Button behaviour
In the inspector, under Button behaviour:
| Behaviour | What happens |
|---|---|
| Trigger | Each press fires the cue. |
| Toggle | First press starts it, second press stops it. For a sound bed to switch on and off. |
| Hold | Plays or lights only while you hold it. For a flash, a siren, a work light. |
Keys and phone
- In Keys and MIDI give the button a keyboard key or a MIDI command (press Learn and touch the controller). The key appears on the button.
- Buttons appear by themselves on phones connected with the Operator or Cart role: someone in the wings can fire the doorbell from their phone.
In Show mode
In Show mode the cart fills the right side of the screen, with bigger buttons. Buttons work, but cannot be edited: nothing changes by mistake.
