The inspector

The Inspector, to the right of the timeline, shows everything you can set on what you selected. Open and close it with Ctrl+I or with the button on the right edge. Double-clicking an element opens it straight on that element. The question mark at its top leads to this page.

Sections open and close with a click on their title. Regia remembers which ones you keep open.

When you select a cue

  • General: number, name, colour, armed, length.
  • Notes: the cue line or instructions, shown in the Standby box.
  • When it starts: GO, Follow, After, Timecode, Clock (see Cues, cue list and GO).
  • Keys and MIDI: the key that fires the cue and the MIDI command learned with Learn.
  • Elements: the list of what it holds, with a click to select one.

A cart button also has Button behaviour (see The cart).

When you select an element

At the top you read its type and the cue it belongs to, with buttons to duplicate and delete it. Below:

  • Timing: track, start, length, enabled, Try from here.
  • The sections for that element type: Sound, Playback and Effects for sounds; Video, Placement, Look, Video effects and Animation for visuals; Look and Split times for light looks; and so on. The chapters Audio, Video, projectors and mapping, Lights and Commands explain them.
  • Notes: a note on the element, just for you.

Fades and curves

Almost every element has a Fade in and Fade out, in seconds, and a Curve that decides how the value changes:

Curve How it sounds or looks
Linear Changes at the same speed throughout.
Equal power The right choice for audio crossfades: the overall level does not dip in the middle.
S-curve Starts gently, speeds up, slows at the end. Smooth, ideal for lights and video.
Fast then slow Most of the change at the start.
Slow then fast Most of the change at the end.

You can also set fades on the timeline by dragging the dots that appear at the top of an element when you hover it.

Animation points

Volume over time (for sounds) and Animation (for videos, images and text) change a value while the element plays. Press Add a point, choose the second (counted from the start of the element) and the value. Between two points the value moves gradually from one to the other.

For visuals you can animate opacity, position X and Y, scale and rotation. An example: an image that slides in from the left, stops in the centre and grows by 10% over 20 seconds.

Number fields

  • Click the field to type: Enter confirms, Esc leaves it as it was.
  • Drag horizontally over the field to change the value; hold Shift for fine steps.
  • With the field focused, the up and down arrows change it by one step (with Shift, by ten).
  • Times accept 12, 12.5, 1:30 or 1:02:03.5.
  • Every change goes into the history: Ctrl+Z undoes them one by one.

Several elements at once

Select several elements (Ctrl+click or Shift+click) and the inspector shows Change all at once:

  • Fade in and Fade out: the same fade for all;
  • Shift by: moves them all earlier or later by the same number of seconds;
  • Volume, if they are all sounds: raises or lowers them all by the same dB;
  • Enable all or Disable all.

With several cues selected you can drag them together in the cue list, duplicate them with Ctrl+D or delete them with Delete.
